Amelia Oates, Marwood House

After securing an impressive four A* in her A Levels, Amelia Oates will read Liberal Arts at the University of Leeds.

A popular student, who immersed herself in School life, Amelia grew in confidence year-on-year while at Barney, taking full advantage of the extra-curricular opportunities available.

She said: “My time at Barney has been one filled with endless opportunities to grow as an individual, surrounded by kind people in a nurturing environment where you are able to learn from your mistakes and try again.

“The last 18 months has been a challenge, overlapping the end of my lower sixth into the entirety of my final year at school. However, I don’t feel like I missed out. Although the face-to-face contact wasn’t there, what we were given was second to none. From online lessons, house challenges and afterschool activities, there was never a dull moment.”

Amelia added: “Barney is like a family and as the years has progressed, I have been fortunate enough to build some amazing friendships and relationships with my teachers and staff members across the school.”
