Contact with Home
Boarding is a positive, joint venture between families and school and continuous parental contact with our Prep boarders is encouraged. To ensure families can make regular contact, children are able to make outgoing calls on the Boarding House telephone between 7.15pm and 8pm on weekdays and at any time of the day at the weekend. Some children have their own mobile telephones, which can be used during the same times and are collected in at 8pm each evening. In addition to the telephone, the Prep boarding house is Wi-Fi enabled ensuring that the children can also enjoy video calls with their families. Boarders’ news is published each week in the school newsletter, giving parents a snapshot of what the children have done each week throughout the term.
As well as the two computers in the Boarding House, the children have the opportunity to use the Prep School laptops and the computer rooms in Senior School at weekends. The school provides e-safety training to all pupils in ICT lessons and the PSHE programme. Each child is given their own personal email address so that they can send/receive emails. Alternatively, parents may email the school office or Mr Edwards for a message to be passed on to a child.
Full-time boarders can spend the weekend at home. Staff will arrange for them to be ready for collection after 4pm on Friday, and children must return to Old Courts between 5pm and 6.30pm on Sunday. There are also family Exeat weekends each term when children go home or stay with friends (dates are published in the School Calendar).
