New Recruit’s Skill at Arms Field Day

04 Dec 2024

The recent Cadet GP Rifle Skill at Arms Day was a resounding success, marked by the exceptional performance and professionalism of all 52 cadets who took part. The event, designed to assess and enhance the cadets’ weapon handling skills, culminated in a 100% pass rate for the mandatory weapon handling test, which was a significant achievement reflecting the hard work, discipline and dedication of both cadets and instructors.

The primary aims of the Skill at Arms Day were to:

  • Ensure all cadets are competent and confident in handling the GP rifle.
  • Reinforce the principles of weapon safety, including the safety rules.
  • Assess cadets’ proficiency in drills such as loading, unloading, stoppage drills, and aiming.
  • Prepare cadets for live firing exercises by solidifying fundamental skills.

Following the successful Skill at Arms Day, cadets are now well-prepared for live firing exercises as well as the ever popular range days next term.
