By the time they reach Sixth Form, pupils are well educated in the benefits of leading healthy, active lives and enjoying a balanced diet, which we hope they will carry through their adult lives. Catering for the Sixth Form reflects the increased autonomy afforded our older students whilst encouraging them to support their learning by eating well.
Every Sixth Former is provided with a high quality, nutritious lunch, freshly prepared daily and served by our in-school catering team. There is also the option for Sixth Form students to join our boarders for breakfast and tea, a popular and valuable option when students want to stay into the evening to study or revise. Breakfast is served at 7.35am and tea is at 5.15pm, in the Dining Hall. Sixth Form students also enjoy a range of teas, coffee, juices and biscuits throughout the day.
The school’s summer and winter seasonal menus are rotated on a three-weekly basis to provide plenty of variety and choice from a range of hot and cold main courses. Our Catering Manager is always keen to discuss specific requirements. The serving team are very well informed about individual students’ needs and also about the ingredients within each dish. Local suppliers, such as Organic Acorn Dairy and Peat’s Butchers, are used as much as possible.
Sixth Formers also have the chance to contribute to the development of catering through the boarding and day Sixth Formers’ Food Committees, which provide a regular forum for sharing their views with the Catering Manager and Headmaster.
