Focus on Barney GCSE Results Day

Barney Results in Focus – Madie Ainsley

The accommodating nature of the teachers at Barnard Castle School has helped Madie Ainsley in her journey through to her fantastic GCSE results.

She came to Barney in year 7 to follow her brother, and studied GCSE Spanish, Business Studies, Geography and History among other subjects. She has loved playing hockey with her friends and working on the Barney Bizz newspaper and will study Geography, Politics and Economics at A Level.

Madie hopes to study politics or business at university.

Barney Results in Focus – Joe Arnold

Go-carting enthusiast Joe Arnold has raced ahead with his GCSE results, after gaining enough to study his desired subjects at Sixth Form.

Joe, who once came 7th in a national go-carting competition, is excited to study Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry at A Level, and has relished the inclusive friendly atmosphere at the school.  

He hopes to undertake an apprenticeship in the future with the intention of setting up his own business.

Barney Results in Focus – Harriet Robson

With her sights set on a career in Law, Harriet Robson has praised the supportive community at Barney, as she celebrated her GCSE results.

Having studied French and Spanish at GCSE, Harriet intends to continue those subjects into A Level as well as Economics and Maths. She will continue to play cricket and hockey throughout her time in Sixth Form having regularly been selected to the first teams.

She hopes to go to university to study PPE or Law.

Barney Results in Focus – Dougie Ross

Having joined Barney in Year 5, Dougie Ross is over the moon with his GCSE results in subjects including Geography, Latin and Art.

With a keen interest in playing hockey, Dougie intends to study Maths, Chemistry and Geography at Barney’s integrated Sixth Form.

Barney Results in Focus – Lucy Harburn

With high hopes of working in medicine in the future, Lucy Harburn has praised the freedom to choose from a range of subjects at Barnard Castle School as she received her GCSE results.

Having joined Barney in Year 4, Lucy intends to study Biology, Chemistry and Maths at Sixth form as well as continuing her involvement in the CCF and Barney Bizz.

She hopes to study medicine or dentistry at university.

Barney Results in Focus – Luke Banner

Climber Luke Banner is reaching new heights after having received his GCSE results in subjects like Computer Science, Design Technology and Geography.

Luke, who is looking to a career in electrical engineering or programming, wants to continue Computer Science and Design Technology into his A Levels, as well as taking Maths.

 The Croft resident hopes to continue those subjects at university.

Barney Results in Focus – Zara Dobson

Keen horsewoman Zara Dobson is jumping for joy after she received her GCSE results, in subjects including Art, PE and Spanish.

The equestrian, who competed for County Durham in the national showjumping championships, will study English Language, Physics and Geography at Barney’s Sixth Form.

Barney Results in Focus – Lucia Huddleston

First Team hockey player Lucia Huddleston, from Frosterley, plans to celebrate with dinner and a movie after receiving her GCSE results.

Going into Sixth From to study Spanish, Ancient History, PE and Psychology, Lucia says that having teachers who were keen to get involved in her studies has helped her throughout her time at Barney.
