Barnard Castle School – GCSE Results Day 2024

22 Aug 2024

The Headmaster Designate of Barnard Castle School, David Cresswell, today praised the hard work of students who rose to the challenge presented by their GCSE examinations.

Mr Cresswell said: “It is wonderful to see hard work rewarded across our student body. These examinations set teenagers up for the next chapter of their lives and so it is an important day in their young lives.

“At Barney, our students are involved in a wide array of academic and non-academic opportunities in a brilliant education that places character at the heart of all they do. We will continually strive to provide our pupils with a challenging and rewarding curriculum that sets them in great stead for what the future holds.”

Among those receiving their results today, success stories included:

  • Joseph Arnold achieved 5 top grade 9s and 3 x 8s among his 11 GCSEs.
  • Benjamin Chuter was delighted to get 5 x 9s, 1 x 8 and 4 x 7s.
  • Alexander Geary also achieved 5 top grade 9s.
  • Harriet Robson succeeded in securing 4 x 9s, 4 x 8s and 3 x 7s.
  • Sebastian Bowerman achieved 2 top grade 9s and 6 x 8s among his 11 GCSEs.

Mr Cresswell said: “We are so proud of those pupils who achieved a suite of Grade 9s at Barney and equally proud of those students who worked hard to achieve a pass. For us, it is all about maximising each individual’s potential, and there are many personal success stories in today’s results for which our students should be commended. I also thank our tirelessly diligent staff who go above and beyond in support of our children.”
