Remembering Martyn Lewis, our beloved former colleague

Barnard Castle School is deeply saddened to learn of the sudden passing of our beloved former staff member Martyn Lewis.

Martyn influenced the lives of countless Barnardians and Old Barnardians alike over the course of his 23-year career as our School Staff Instructor within the Combined Cadet Force, as well as a respected Tutor and Sports Coach.

He joined Barney in 1997, following a decorated military career where he achieved the rank of WO1, and remained a hugely popular figure within our community up until, and beyond, his retirement from School in 2020.

The thoughts of everyone at Barnard Castle School are with Martyn’s family and friends, especially his much-loved wife, Joyce, at this incredibly sad time.
