Headspace Speaker Programme – OB Piers Doggart

We thoroughly enjoyed welcoming OB Piers Doggart back to Barney today, who spoke about his time at School and his illustrious career in Law, as part of our Headspace Speaker programme.

Detailing his time at Barnard Castle School, Piers spoke about his fond memories of School life and how he still keeps in touch with Old Barnardians, one of whom was his best man at his wedding, despite leaving when in Year 9, due to his family relocating to the Channel Islands.

He then discussed his wide-ranging career to date as a barrister, judge and solicitor, highlighting significant moments in his career, culminating in his current position as a Legal Director at Eversheds Sutherland.

In true festive spirit, he gave Senior School students 12 tips to take away with them for their future careers – whether in Law or any profession – while providing an interesting insight into the Law profession, drawing upon examples on rulings involving whether Jaffa Cakes are biscuits or cakes!

It was wonderful to see that his connection with our School remains as strong as ever, and we look forward to welcoming back Piers in the near future.
