Yorkshire Sculpture Park Art Student Visit

05 Nov 2024

Last week Year 10 and 11 Art students spent a beautiful autumn day at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, analysing the many artworks for their GCSE portfolio.

They saw an exhibition called ‘Alchemies’ by artist Bharti Kher, who describes her hybrid sculptures as “mythical urban goddesses” who are, “part truth, and part fiction, part me, and part you”. Also they saw a display of drawings and sculptures of animals by the famous artist Elizabeth Frink, as well as works by many other artists scattered throughout the grounds.

Students filled their journals with drawings and notes about how and why the sculptures were made and were encouraged to make their own, informed judgements on the work they experienced.
