Barney USA Trip – Blog

21 Oct 2024

After quite an early start following Wednesday evening’s House Singing competition, 55 Barney Sixth Formers and the incredible staff line up of Mrs Beadnell, Mr Edwards, Mr and Mrs Dawson and Mrs Campbell, eagerly set off to Manchester Airport, ready for our American adventure.

After catching the flight from Manchester to Heathrow, we had a few hours to spare, where a breakfast at Wagamamas, was the top choice for most of us.

Feeling refreshed and after enjoying some retail therapy in duty free, we excitedly boarded our flight to New York City. Following 7 hours of films, Sudokus, Reading and thrashing Mr Edwards at Boggle, we landed at JFK and collected our luggage.

We spent the next hour on a picturesque journey to Time Square as a beautiful sunset lay over Manhattan, where we were thrilled seeing our favourite American stores and counted how many flags we could spot.

After arriving at the hotel, we headed to our evening meal, a traditional American-style diner for some very much needed food, where we were all shocked by the portion sizes! After feeling very full, we returned to the hotel, for our first night in New York City.
