Founders’ Day 2024
16 Feb 2024Today we recognise the people who laid the foundations for Barnard Castle School 141 years ago and those who have supported and developed Barney into the School we are today.
Adding to this year’s annual celebration, 2024 marks the centenary of not only our name change from the ‘North Eastern County School’, but OB and former Schoolmaster Bentley Beetham’s role in the British Mount Everest expedition 100 years ago.
Bentley’s legacy and sense of adventure lives on at Barney, whose storied career as a respected mountaineer, photographer and teacher has inspired countless Barnardians over the last century.
